How To Use PawLab Artificial Turf / Outdoor Cleaner

Use this guide to treat pet urine odours on artificial turf and outdoor surfaces, then keep the area clean, disinfected and fresh with regular maintenance.

How To Dilute the Concentrate

Ready-to-use: No dilution required. Use directly from the bottle.

Concentrate: Mix 50ml concentrate with 950ml water to make 1L of ready-to-use solution.

How To Remove Urine Odours From Artificial Turf

For urine-affected artificial turf, start with PawLab Urine Stain & Odour Remover, then follow with PawLab Artificial Turf / Outdoor Disinfectant Cleaner.

Stage 1: Treat With Enzyme Cleaner

  1. Prepare the area: Remove pet waste and loose debris, then use an artificial turf rake against the pile to lift flattened grass blades and loosen embedded debris. This helps the cleaner reach the base.
  2. Apply generously: Apply PawLab Urine Stain & Odour Remover generously enough to soak through to the base, where urine and odour-causing residue collect.
  3. Allow to air dry: Leave the treatment to work and let the turf air dry naturally before starting Stage 2.

Stage 2: Clean & Disinfect

  1. Rinse with clean water: Once the enzyme treatment has dried, rinse the area to remove loosened residue.
  2. Apply the outdoor cleaner: Apply PawLab Artificial Turf / Outdoor Disinfectant Cleaner generously across the affected area, ensuring it reaches the base.
  3. Allow to air dry: Leave the treatment to work and let the turf air dry naturally.

Application tip: Apply during the coolest part of the day, ideally around sunset, to help prevent the treatment from drying too quickly.

Ongoing Maintenance

Use PawLab Artificial Turf / Outdoor Disinfectant Cleaner for regular cleaning between urine treatments. How often you clean will depend on how many pets use the area as their toilet.

  • Warm or hot weather: Clean fortnightly.
  • Cooler weather: Clean every 4–6 weeks.
  • Between treatments: Regularly rinse the area with clean water and remove pet waste and debris.
  • For urine stains or odours: Follow the full two-stage treatment above, starting with PawLab Urine Stain & Odour Remover, then the outdoor disinfectant.

Application Methods

Small areas: Use a 1L Pressure Pump Spray Bottle to apply the cleaning solution evenly over smaller areas.

Larger areas (15 m² and above): Use the PawLab 900ml Hose-On Sprayer. Connect it to a standard garden hose for easier application across larger outdoor areas.

How To Remove Urine Stains & Odours From Concrete

Pet urine can soak deep into concrete and leave stubborn odours. Use PawLab’s Enzyme Urine Stain & Odour Remover to break down the uric acid crystals causing the smell.

  1. Clear the area: Remove any dirt or debris.
  2. For fresh urine: Soak up any pooled urine with paper towels or an absorbent cloth.
  3. For old or dried urine: Lightly rinse the affected area with water to help loosen dried deposits, then allow excess water to drain away.
  4. Apply the Enzyme Cleaner: Generously saturate the affected area with PawLab’s Enzyme Urine Stain & Odour Remover, allowing it to soak into the concrete and reach the trapped urine.
  5. Leave to air dry: Allow the cleaner to soak in and the area to air dry completely. There’s no need to rinse or wipe it away.
  6. Repeat if needed: Older or deeply embedded urine odours may require multiple treatments. Allow the concrete to dry completely between applications.

Pro Tip: Disinfect After Treatment

Once the enzyme treatment is complete and the concrete is dry, follow with PawLab’s Artificial Turf & Outdoor Disinfectant Cleaner to kill germs, bacteria and viruses, leaving the area hygienically clean and fresh.

Important: Apply the Enzyme Cleaner when the concrete is cool and out of direct sunlight. This helps prevent it from drying too quickly, giving the enzymes more time to work.

How To Remove Urine Stains & Odours From Decking

  1. Test first: Apply PawLab’s Enzyme Urine Stain & Odour Remover to a hidden area to check for changes to colour or finish.
  2. Prepare the area: Remove dirt and debris. Blot up fresh urine, or lightly rinse dried urine deposits and let excess water drain away.
  3. Apply the Enzyme Cleaner: Spray affected boards and accessible gaps evenly, without excessively saturating the timber.
  4. Leave to air dry: Do not rinse or scrub. Apply to cool decking out of direct sunlight.
  5. Repeat if needed: Allow the decking to dry completely between treatments.

Disinfect After Treatment

Once the enzyme treatment is complete and the decking is dry, follow with PawLab’s Artificial Turf & Outdoor Disinfectant Cleaner on water-safe surfaces to disinfect and freshen the area.

Important: Avoid excessive saturation, particularly on unsealed, weathered or damaged timber.
